'Before meeting Peter De Cosemo in Feb 2014 I was in a very different place with Raine. Having had Raine since she was a foal, as a rising 6yr old we were facing lots of problems in crowds of other horses, she was explosive, reactive and often, down-right dangerous. When in season this became a white knuckle ride, I was getting quite desperate she would never achieve her ‘planned’ job.
Watching a Peter demonstration where Mel Rigal was riding Dixie and explaining how this beautiful dressage mare started off very differently. This gave me hope and one particular phrase stuck a real chord when Peter said ‘we should stop thinking about mares as awkward or difficult because their problem was usually that they were overachievers and sensitive’.
This is when we started following him about, having as many sessions as possible. We focused on building her confidence, picking venues that would be less stressful and out as much as possible to build her confidence. He suggested as the first test was often a car crash whilst she settled down, we should do three easy tests.
Things gradually improved and the last two competitions have been free from any explosions and we have acquired enough points to qualify for the regionals at prelim level. …Last week we won all three classes - both prelim classes, one with a 72%, and the novice restricted. The difference in Raine is unbelievable, worth all the blood, sweat and tears! I have at last swapped my fear of what she might do for enjoyment.
I hope she will lose her local reputation as the “naughty black mare”! Last week in the warm when another youngster was overreacting and throwing itself about, instead of being tipped over the edge, she was completely relaxed and just got on with the job in hand which made me burst with pride! She felt grown up! The motto of this story is “never give up, just ask for help”!!'

'Marley and I attended a training clinic today with an amazing trainer called Peter De Cosemo. Gave my instructor and I loads to think about. Completely changed my outlook (and my seat) of bringing on the novice horse. Can't wait to start out and practice.'

'I've learned so much today - . I've had the light bulb moment, the eureka moment and the oh my god moment all crammed into 45 mins with Peter De Cosemo. I feel like a totally different rider, a better one, and a much more sensitive one. Thanks so much.'

'I feel that my young horse Dixie has made such amazing progress from a short, tense, hurried horse into a more confident correctly trained horse with a great future. His training is clear and black and white for what is expected of both horse and rider, making it easy to understand and very exciting waiting to see where we go next along the training ladder.'

'Every lesson I have ever had with Peter...or seen him teach I come away with not only more discrete and specific additions to my tool kit - but they have a long lasting effect - they have stayed with me for decades. I remember small incremental changes that reap such long term rewards, the "flash-ping!" of lightbulb moments and the fact that I can hear Peter's voice still teaching me many years later as I teach others.'

'One doesn't have to spend much time watching Peter teach...to recognize his brilliance. Having been a student of his for the past 15 years, I feel qualified to speak on the topic. The simplicity of his method is deceiving. There is so much thought, so much science, and so much practical experience blended together to produce a thoughtful, kind, and predictably successful system of training all horses. I have seen him work with the most simple of equines, and the most talented. I am personally most impressed when I watch Peter mould an average beast into a light-footed and sparkling example of what dressage is supposed to be. For those who have been lucky enough to work with Peter, it is impossible to find suitable help elsewhere. An entertaining and educational instructor, a talented and tactful horseman, Peter is an inspiration and sets a standard to which we should all aspire.'

'I just want to thank you so much for the massive boost your wisdom has given me. I feel like i'm finally becoming a more comfortable passenger for my horses, and that my riding relationship with them has been transformed since i met you in September. I can't thank you enough'

'A big thank you Peter for fitting us in to your busy schedule. I'm sure I am not alone in saying that my brain is still working overtime to process everything we covered. Certainly lots of moments of enlightenment. One of the phrases that sticks in my mind is 'self carriage' as opposed to 'self head carriage' which has been an aim in the past. I'll come back to you soon to get another session in the diary. Hope your weekend in Norfolk goes well.'

'Was an eye opener, or should I say a re-eye opener! Amazing how in the day to day struggle to just get everything done you forget that the best time saver is actually usually the right way to do things because you get the best performance! How can I have been so dumb for the last year or so! Doh!'

'Peter can adapt his teaching from beginners to advanced - no matter what level you are , you get loads out of every lesson.
I feel he has helped me straight away to connect with Carrick my new 15.2 6yr old horse, which has been a big step up from my 18 yr old 14hh pony. He has helped me to understand how to approach riding new horses in a step by step way, getting to know how to learn to ride a different horse'

'Having ridden for 60 odd years, I didn't expect miracles when Peter started teaching me but, with humour and patience, he is gradually changing the way I have always ridden into the way I have always wanted to ride.
From me and from Gallers, Peter, thank you.xx'

'Had a fantastic lesson on Tyke with Peter De Cosemo this morning, brilliant easy to understand sympathetic techniques and absolutely transformed horse from my usual solo schooling attempts.'
